France Preseren statue

The France Prešeren statue stands proudly at the heart of Prešeren Square (Prešernov trg), Ljubljana's main square and a bustling hub of activity. A bit of history

France Prešeren (1800–1849) is Slovenia's national poet, whose work inspired the country's cultural identity. The statue was erected in 1905 to honor his legacy, with the female figure representing his unrequited love, Julija Primic. The square was renamed after him in 1952.
