Christ Church, Rawalpindi

Christ Church is an Anglican church on the main square near the GHQ in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Completed in 1854, it was built for British officers and troops. The church features Gothic-style pointed arches, a wooden vaulted ceiling, and a bell tower made of local brick and stone.

A bit of history

In 1851, the Marquis of Dalhousie authorized the permanent occupation of Rawalpindi, leading to the stationing of Her Majesty’s 53rd Regiment. The church's foundation was laid in 1852, and construction finished in 1854. Before the church, a chapel was built to host services.
