Alko Hiti is a beautifully preserved stone water spout (dhunge dhara) in Patan, showcasing the city's medieval water management ingenuity. The spout is carved from a single block of stone, with intricate reliefs of Hindu deities, floral motifs, and mythical animals like makaras. Water flows from multiple spouts into a rectangular basin, where locals still collect water for drinking and washing. The surrounding area is a small paved courtyard, often shaded by a large tree. Visitors can admire the craftsmanship and imagine the spout's role in daily life centuries ago.

Don't miss

  • Study the detailed stone carvings of gods, goddesses, and mythical creatures.
  • Watch locals collect water and use the spout as a social gathering spot.
  • Notice the engineering: water flows continuously from multiple spouts.
