The Blue Grotto comprises a network of limestone sea caves on Malta's southern coast, where sunlight filters through underwater cavities to create dazzling blue hues on the cave walls and water. Visitors take small boats from Wied iż-Żurrieq, passing through the main arch and into several chambers, including the 'Cathedral Cave' with its 30-meter-high dome. The best colors appear in calm morning conditions. The site is also popular with divers exploring the surrounding reef.
Don't miss
- Boat trip through the main arch into the brilliantly lit inner caves
- The Cathedral Cave's high dome and clear turquoise water
- Snorkeling or diving in the crystal-clear waters outside the caves
