With a history of over 110 years, this restaurant specializes in stewed miso udon served in hot ceramic pots, creating a cozy dining experience. Read good reviews of this place as one of the highly recommended place to go for this Nagoya Miso Nikomi Udon. Worth a try, but overall food was generally pretty salty and the service was not as good. Waiters were not very attentive unless asked for. I noticed that all tables were served with a bib to prevent splatters of the soup ruining your shirt, but unintentionally or not they did not give us. Upon ordering, they gave a pickled salad dish and instructed to pour the soya/ vinegar in to eat together.. Salty. Water refills only upon requests too. Udon came out abit undercooked with it being abit on the chewy side too. However, it was great that the staff offered the English menu to order from.
Nice udon indeed. But I was in a bit rush since they were going to close soon. But the udons were nicely cooked and the miso soup was delicious.
Line was long, udon was tough, chicken was chewy and the broth was very salty. Do yourself a favor and skip over this place
Took us a while to find the restaurant but it was worth it. It is located within the Horiuchi building, part of it's gourmet dining street. We arrived at around 5pm and was promptly taken to our seats. We ordered their signature udon dishes and also chicken skewers and a pork dish. The service was attentive and the food arrived quite quickly. We really enjoyed the food and even the kids loved the soupy udon. Will visit again when we are in Nagoya.
