Verona Cathedral, also known as the Duomo, is the city's principal church, dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The building is a blend of Romanesque and Gothic styles, with a striking façade of white and pink marble. Inside, visitors are greeted by a series of chapels adorned with frescoes and paintings by Renaissance masters, including works by Titian and Giovan Francesco Caroto. The cathedral's most famous piece is Titian's "Assumption of the Virgin" in the first chapel on the left. The nave is spacious and light-filled, with a wooden ceiling and a raised presbytery. The adjacent baptistery, dedicated to San Giovanni in Fonte, features a large octagonal font carved from a single block of marble. The cathedral complex also includes the Church of Sant'Elena and a small museum.
