The Scaliger Tombs are a remarkable ensemble of Gothic funerary monuments located in the historic center of Verona, just steps from Piazza dei Signori. These ornate tombs belong to the Scaliger family, who ruled Verona in the 13th and 14th centuries. The most impressive is the tomb of Cangrande I della Scala, topped with an equestrian statue and adorned with intricate carvings. The tombs are enclosed by a wrought-iron fence, and the site includes a small church, Santa Maria Antica. Visitors can admire the detailed stonework, heraldic symbols, and the unique canopy-like structures that shelter each sarcophagus.
