The Roman Theatre of Verona is a well-preserved ancient structure dating from the 1st century BC, built into the hillside along the Adige River. It originally seated up to 30,000 spectators and was used for dramatic performances. Today, it is the venue for the annual Estate Teatrale Veronese, a summer festival of opera, theater, and dance. Visitors can explore the cavea (seating area), the stage ruins, and the archaeological museum housed in the former monastery of San Girolamo. The museum displays artifacts from the theater and other Roman sites in Verona. The theater offers stunning views of the city and the river, especially at sunset. Its intimate scale compared to the Arena di Verona makes it a unique spot for cultural events.
