The Temple of Apollo is one of the most ancient and captivating religious sites in Pompeii, dating back to the 6th century BC. Located near the Forum, it was dedicated to Apollo, the god of music, prophecy, and healing. The temple is set within a spacious sanctuary surrounded by a colonnade of 48 columns, many still standing. At the center, a bronze statue of Apollo (a copy; the original is in the Naples Museum) stands as a focal point. The temple's altar, with its intricate carvings, and the sundial nearby add to the atmosphere. The site offers a serene contrast to the bustling Forum, with a sense of sacred calm. The columns bear traces of stucco and paint, hinting at their original vibrant colors.
