Villa Romana del Tellaro is an archaeological site located just outside Noto, offering a fascinating glimpse into Roman rural life. The villa, dating from the late 4th century AD, was discovered in the 1970s and is renowned for its exquisite mosaic floors, which cover nearly all the rooms. These mosaics feature vibrant geometric patterns and figurative scenes, including a famous depiction of the hunt of the Calydonian boar and scenes from the Odyssey. Visitors can walk along elevated walkways that allow close-up views of the mosaics while protecting them. The site also includes the remains of the villa's walls, courtyards, and a bath complex. The peaceful setting, surrounded by olive groves and almond trees, adds to the charm. A small on-site museum displays artifacts found during excavations, such as pottery and coins, providing context to the villa's history.
