Galleria Umberto I is a magnificent covered shopping arcade located opposite the Teatro di San Carlo, in the heart of Naples. Built between 1887 and 1891, it features a grand iron-and-glass dome that floods the interior with natural light, and a stunning mosaic floor depicting the signs of the zodiac. The gallery is shaped like a Latin cross, with four arms radiating from the central octagon. Today, it houses a mix of cafes, restaurants, and boutiques, as well as a few historic shops. Visitors often pause to admire the architecture, sip an espresso at a sidewalk cafe, or simply stroll through this elegant space that feels like a cathedral to commerce. The gallery is also a popular meeting point for locals and a gateway to the nearby historic center.
