Certosa di San Martino is a former Carthusian monastery complex perched on the Vomero hill, offering some of the most spectacular panoramic views of Naples and its bay. Founded in the 14th century, it was expanded and embellished over the centuries, becoming a masterpiece of Baroque art and architecture. Today, it houses the National Museum of San Martino, which showcases Neapolitan art, presepi (nativity scenes), and artifacts from the Bourbon era. Visitors can wander through the cloisters, the grand church with its richly decorated chapels, and the monks' quarters. The highlight is the Chiostro Grande (Great Cloister), surrounded by columns and a serene garden. The museum's collection includes paintings, sculptures, and a famous collection of historical carriages. The site's elevated position makes it a perfect spot for photography, especially at sunset.
