The Grandes Jorasses is a majestic mountain peak in the Mont Blanc massif, rising to 4,208 meters on the border between France and Italy. It is celebrated among mountaineers for its formidable north face, one of the 'six great north faces of the Alps,' which presents a steep, icy challenge that has been climbed by elite alpinists. The peak consists of several summits, including Pointe Walker (the highest), Pointe Whymper, and Pointe Croz. From Courmayeur, the Grandes Jorasses dominates the skyline to the east, its serrated ridge and hanging glaciers creating a dramatic silhouette. Visitors can admire the peak from viewpoints in the Val Ferret valley or from the Skyway Monte Bianco cable car. The mountain is also a popular subject for photographers, especially at sunrise when the rock glows pink. For non-climbers, the best way to experience the Grandes Jorasses is through guided hikes on the Italian side, where you can see its grandeur up close.
