Châtelard Castle is a ruined medieval fortress located on a rocky outcrop overlooking the town of Courmayeur and the surrounding valley. Built in the 12th century, it once controlled the strategic route through the Valdigne. Today, visitors can explore the remaining stone walls, towers, and foundations, which offer a glimpse into the region's feudal past. The site is especially rewarding for its sweeping views of the Mont Blanc massif, the Dora Baltea river, and the lush valley below. The castle is surrounded by woodland, and the short hike up to it is a pleasant walk through chestnut and oak trees. It's a quiet spot, often less crowded than other attractions, perfect for history buffs and photographers alike.
