The Metal Man is a distinctive landmark standing on a stone pillar at the western end of Rosses Point beach. Painted in bright colors, this cast-iron figure of a sailor points out to sea, serving as a historic navigational beacon for vessels approaching Sligo Harbour. The beacon was erected in the 19th century and remains a beloved symbol of the area. Visitors can walk out to the Metal Man along the sand at low tide, or view it from the coastal path. The figure's outstretched arm and steadfast pose make it a popular subject for photographs, and the surrounding beach offers sweeping views of Sligo Bay and the Atlantic. The Metal Man is part of a trio of beacons in the area, but it is the most iconic.
