Carrowmore is a remarkable archaeological site located just west of Sligo town, comprising one of the largest and oldest megalithic tomb complexes in Ireland. The site features over 30 visible tombs, including passage tombs, dolmens, and stone circles, spread across a scenic landscape. The visitor center provides excellent interpretive displays, including artifacts and information about the Neolithic people who built these structures around 4600–3600 BCE. Walking among the tombs, visitors can see the central monument, a large passage tomb known as Listoghil, which is surrounded by smaller satellite tombs. The site offers a unique opportunity to step back in time and explore Ireland's prehistoric heritage in a peaceful, rural setting. Carrowmore is part of the larger Neolithic complex that includes the famous Carrowkeel and Knocknarea.
