Shravanabelagola, meaning 'white pond of the ascetic,' is a revered Jain pilgrimage town in Karnataka. Visitors explore the sacred lakes, such as the beautiful Parshwanath Tirth, and ancient temples that dot the landscape. The town is most famous for the colossal 57-foot monolith of Gommateshwara (Bahubali) atop Vindhyagiri Hill, but the entire area exudes spiritual tranquility. Pilgrims and tourists alike walk through narrow streets lined with temples, experiencing centuries-old Jain traditions. The twin hills, Vindhyagiri and Chandragiri, offer panoramic views and house numerous basadis (Jain temples) with intricate carvings.
