The Nakula Sahadeva Ratha is one of the Pancha Rathas, carved from a single granite outcrop in Mahabalipuram. Its unique apsidal (horseshoe-arched) plan sets it apart from the other rathas, resembling a Buddhist chaitya hall. Visitors can admire the detailed carvings on the exterior, including a life-sized elephant statue at the rear, which adds to the site's charm. This ratha is unfinished, offering a glimpse into the ancient rock-cut techniques of the Pallava dynasty.

Don't miss

  • Observe the apsidal plan, unique among the Pancha Rathas
  • See the finely carved elephant sculpture behind the ratha
  • Notice the unfinished sections revealing Pallava rock-cut methods
