The Ganesha Ratha is one of the five monolithic temples known as Pancha Rathas, carved from a single granite outcrop. Unlike the other rathas which are rectangular, this one has an apsidal (horseshoe-shaped) plan, resembling a Buddhist chaitya hall. It is dedicated to Ganesha, whose image sits inside the sanctum. The exterior features intricate carvings of deities, dwarfs, and decorative motifs. Though smaller than its neighbors, its unique shape and fine detailing make it a standout. Visitors can walk around the entire structure to admire the sculptural finesse.

Don't miss

  • The apsidal shape with a barrel-vaulted roof, unique among the Pancha Rathas
  • The seated Ganesha image inside the sanctum, carved from the same rock
  • The exterior panels showing Shiva, Parvati, and other figures in graceful poses
