Gadisar Lake, built in the 14th century by Maharaja Gadsi Singh, was once the primary water source for Jaisalmer. Today, it is a peaceful oasis on the outskirts of the city, fringed by small temples, shrines, and chhatris (cenotaphs). The lake is especially popular during sunset when the golden light reflects off the water and the surrounding sandstone structures. Visitors can enjoy boating, feed the fish, or simply stroll along the ghats. The site also hosts the annual Gangaur festival, adding cultural vibrancy.

Don't miss

  • Take a boat ride on the lake for views of the surrounding temples
  • Visit the small shrines and chhatris along the ghats
  • Watch the sunset from the steps of the main ghat
