Bada Bagh is a historic garden complex located about 6 km north of Jaisalmer, known for its collection of royal cenotaphs (chhatris) built in honor of the city's former rulers. The cenotaphs, made of yellow sandstone, rise against the stark desert landscape, creating a striking contrast. Visitors can wander among the intricately carved memorials, each dedicated to a different maharaja, and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding Thar Desert. The site is particularly atmospheric at sunset when the stone glows golden.

Don't miss

  • Marvel at the tiered chhatris, each with distinct carvings and inscriptions.
  • Photograph the desert panorama from the elevated garden area.
  • Visit during late afternoon to see the sandstone lit by golden hour light.
