The Alte Oper (Old Opera) is one of Frankfurt's most prestigious cultural venues, hosting classical concerts, jazz, pop, and events in its grand halls. Originally opened in 1880, the building was heavily damaged in WWII and rebuilt in the 1970s, reopening in 1981. Its Neo-Renaissance façade, with statues and ornate details, contrasts with a modern interior featuring excellent acoustics. The main concert hall seats 2,500, while smaller halls host chamber music and lectures. Even without a ticket, visitors can admire the architecture from the outside or join a guided tour. The surrounding Opernplatz is a lively square with cafes and fountains, perfect for a pre-show stroll.
