The Georgian Military Road is a historic 212-kilometer highway traversing the Greater Caucasus, connecting Tbilisi, Georgia, to Vladikavkaz, Russia. Built by the Russian military in the 19th century, it follows an ancient trade route through dramatic gorges and high mountain passes. Travelers encounter landmarks such as the Ananuri Fortress, the Gudauri ski area, and the Russia–Georgia Friendship Monument. The road reaches its highest point at the Jvari Pass (2,379 m), offering stunning vistas of the surrounding peaks.
