Plage de l'Almanarre is a magnificent 4-kilometer stretch of golden sand located on the Giens Peninsula, just south of Hyères. Its consistent winds and shallow waters make it one of the top windsurfing and kite surfing spots in Europe. The beach is backed by dunes and salt marshes, part of the Salins d'Hyères, where salt has been harvested for centuries. Despite its popularity with water sports enthusiasts, the beach offers plenty of space for sunbathing and swimming, especially away from the surf zones. The backdrop of the Almanarre hills and the distant islands adds to the scenic beauty. Facilities include parking, a few beachside restaurants, and rental shops for windsurfing and kite surfing gear. The beach is also a great spot for a long walk, especially at sunset when the light paints the salt flats pink.
Don't miss
- Windsurf or kite surf in the steady Mistral wind
