Plage d'Étretat is the main public beach in Étretat, stretching along the base of the famous chalk cliffs. Unlike sandy beaches, this one is covered in smooth, rounded pebbles, which can be a bit tricky to walk on but add to the unique character. The beach is flanked on either side by the towering cliffs, Falaise d'Amont to the north and Falaise d'Aval to the south, with the natural arch and needle rock visible from the shore. It's a popular spot for sunbathing, swimming (lifeguards in summer), and simply gazing at the dramatic coastline. The beach is easily accessible from the town center, just a short walk down from the main square. At low tide, you can walk further out and explore the rock pools. The setting is quintessentially Norman, with the sound of waves and seagulls filling the air. Whether you're there for a swim or a stroll, the beach provides a perfect vantage point for photographing the cliffs.
