Chapelle Notre-Dame de la Garde is a small Catholic chapel located on the Falaise d'Amont, the eastern cliff of Étretat. Built in the 19th century, it stands as a peaceful landmark overlooking the town and the English Channel. The chapel's simple Gothic Revival architecture features a bell tower and a statue of the Virgin Mary. Inside, the chapel is modest but atmospheric, with stained glass windows and a quiet altar. The real draw, however, is the location: from the chapel's terrace, visitors can enjoy one of the best panoramic views of the Aiguille d'Étretat, the Falaise d'Aval, and the pebble beach below. It is a popular spot for reflection and photography, especially at sunset.

Don't miss

  • Admire the view of the Aiguille and the coastline from the chapel terrace
  • See the stained glass windows depicting maritime scenes
  • Attend a mass or light a candle in the peaceful interior
  • Walk the short path from the Jardins d'Étretat to the chapel
