La Baumette is a historic 15th-century building in Angers, originally built at the request of King René of Anjou. Perched on a rocky promontory overlooking the Maine River, it was once a convent and later a private residence. The structure features Gothic and Renaissance architectural elements, with a chapel, vaulted rooms, and a peaceful cloister. Today, it houses a private school, but parts of the building and its gardens are occasionally open to the public during heritage events. The site offers panoramic views of the river and the city. Its distinctive feature is the blend of religious and royal history, as King René was a patron of the arts and a notable figure in Anjou.
