Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, founded in 1447 by the first Dalai Lama, is one of Tibet's most important Gelugpa monasteries and the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama. Visitors explore its grand assembly halls, chapels, and courtyards, with the highlight being the 26-meter-tall statue of Maitreya Buddha (Future Buddha) in the Jamkhang Chapel. Monks in maroon robes chant and debate in the courtyards, offering a glimpse into living Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery's whitewashed walls and golden roofs against the Himalayan backdrop create a serene and awe-inspiring atmosphere.
