The Temple of Confucius in Qufu is one of China's largest and most important ancient architectural complexes, originally built in 478 BCE to honor the great philosopher. Visitors walk through a series of courtyards, halls, and pavilions, including the Dacheng Hall with its impressive carved dragons. The temple grounds are dotted with ancient cypress trees and numerous stone inscriptions, including stelae from emperors across dynasties. It offers a serene atmosphere for reflection on Confucian teachings and Chinese history.
