Obertauern, nestled in the Salzburg region of Austria, is a year-round outdoor paradise. In winter, it transforms into a snow-sure ski resort with over 100 kilometers of slopes, modern lifts, and a reputation for reliable snow cover from November to May. The village is compact and car-free, with ski-in/ski-out access from most hotels. Summer brings a network of hiking and mountain biking trails through alpine meadows and past crystal-clear lakes. The Tauernloipe cross-country ski trail and the nearby Grosse Arl see glacier offer additional winter activities. What sets Obertauern apart is its high altitude (1,700 m) and its vibrant après-ski culture, with numerous bars and restaurants lining the main street.
