历史背景

MacArthur Park was created in the 1880s as Westlake Park, named after the adjacent Westlake District. It was renamed in 1942 to honor General Douglas MacArthur. The park was designed by landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. and features a lake that was once part of a natural arroyo.
