历史背景
The site began as Al-Malaz Square, a horse racecourse for King Abdulaziz ibn Saud in the early 20th century. The area became an urban neighborhood between 1953 and 1957, making horse racing unsustainable. In 2003, the square was handed to the Riyadh Municipality to become a park, and construction began in 2010. The park opened on October 2, 2013, as a gift from King Abdullah.
