KL Tower
DvTor8303 · Wikimedia Commons · CC0KL Tower (Menara Kuala Lumpur) is a 421-metre telecommunications tower rising from a forested hill, giving it an observation deck that's actually higher above sea level than the nearby Petronas Towers' skybridge. The enclosed observation deck and the open-air Sky Deck (with its glass 'Sky Box' jutting out over the edge for nerve-testing photos) deliver 360° views over the whole city, and crucially, unlike the Petronas Towers, the view from here includes the Petronas Towers themselves.
The tower sits within a small protected rainforest reserve, a green pocket in the city centre. For thrill-seekers there's also a revolving restaurant and base-jump events. It's the best all-round city panorama in Kuala Lumpur, especially at sunset.

行前须知
- Unlike the Petronas Towers, the view from here includes the Petronas Towers, better for skyline photos.
- The open-air Sky Deck and glass Sky Box cost more than the enclosed deck but are the highlight.
- Use the free shuttle up the hill rather than walking the steep access road.
- Sunset is the prime slot; go on a clear day for the full panorama.
历史背景
Completed in 1995, Menara Kuala Lumpur was built primarily for telecommunications, set atop Bukit Nanas, one of the oldest forest reserves in the country. It has become a fixture of the skyline and a popular viewpoint and events venue.
常见问题
Is it better than the Petronas Towers viewpoint?
For a city panorama, arguably yes, KL Tower sits on a hill, so it's higher, gives a full 360° view, and crucially includes the Petronas Towers in the vista.
What's the Sky Box?
A glass-floored and -walled box jutting out from the open-air Sky Deck, where you can stand suspended over the city for photos.
How do I get up the hill?
A free shuttle runs from the base entrance to the tower; the nearest monorail stop is Bukit Nanas.
When should I go?
Late afternoon into sunset on a clear day for the best light and the city lights coming on.
