Parvati Hill

Parvati Hill is a hillock in Pune, India, rising to 2,100 feet (640 m) above sea level. Atop it is the Parvati Temple, the oldest heritage structure in Pune, built during the Peshwa dynasty. It also serves as an observation point offering a panoramic view of the city and is the second highest point in Pune.

历史背景
The hill was originally owned by a Patil named Taware. The Peshwa purchased it to build a Shiva temple. The Devi temple was believed to be Taware's kulswami, whose angara cured a leg ailment of Kashibai, mother of Peshwa Balaji Baji Rao, prompting the Peshwa to build a temple complex. The main Devdeveshwara temple, made of blackstone, was completed under Balaji Baji Rao in 1749, with a gold pinnacle added in 1760.
