Valluvar Kottam is a striking modern monument in Chennai, built in 1976 to celebrate the classical Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar, author of the Thirukkural. The centerpiece is a 33-meter-high stone chariot, inspired by the temple chariots of Tamil Nadu, housing a life-size statue of the poet. The surrounding auditorium can seat 4,000 people and hosts cultural events. The site also features a museum displaying the 1,330 couplets of the Thirukkural on granite panels, making it a peaceful spot for reflection and learning about Tamil heritage.
