Pyramid of Khafre

The Pyramid of Khafre, built for Pharaoh Khafre (son of Khufu), appears taller than the Great Pyramid due to its elevated location and steeper angle, though it is actually slightly smaller. Its most distinctive feature is the surviving layer of Tura limestone casing stones at the apex, giving a glimpse of the original smooth finish. Visitors can enter the pyramid through two entrances on the north face and descend into the burial chamber. The pyramid is part of a larger complex that includes the Great Sphinx, which is believed to bear Khafre's likeness.
