历史背景

Nanluoguxiang dates back to the Yuan Dynasty (13th century), originally part of the capital's grid layout. The name means 'South Gong and Drum Lane' because it was located south of the Drum Tower. It has been a residential area for centuries and now represents one of Beijing's best-preserved hutong neighborhoods.
