Minute Maid Park is the home of the Houston Astros, a downtown Major League Baseball stadium known for its retractable roof (keeping games comfortable in Houston's summer heat) and its quirky, fan-favourite features. Built into the historic Union Station building, it blends old and new, and for years had one of baseball's most distinctive quirks: 'Tal's Hill,' a sloped section of the outfield (since removed). A real locomotive runs along a track above left field, tooting and rolling whenever the Astros homer or win, a nod to the railway heritage of the site.
Catching an Astros game is the main draw, the atmosphere, the roof, the train, but behind-the-scenes ballpark tours also run on non-game days, taking you to the dugout, press box, and field. It's right in downtown Houston, easy to combine with the surrounding bars and restaurants.
