Wren's Nest

Wren's Nest is the former residence of Joel Chandler Harris, the journalist and author famous for compiling the Uncle Remus stories. Located in Atlanta's West End neighborhood, this Queen Anne-style Victorian house is now a museum dedicated to Harris's life and work. Visitors can tour the preserved rooms filled with original furnishings, personal artifacts, and exhibits on African American folktales. The museum also hosts storytelling events, educational programs, and cultural festivals that celebrate the oral traditions that inspired Harris. Built in the 1880s, the house was purchased by Joel Chandler Harris in 1881. He lived there until his death in 1908, writing many of the Uncle Remus stories. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1962.
