Jalan Alor is Kuala Lumpur's most famous street-food strip, a single bustling lane in the Bukit Bintang district that transforms each evening into an open-air feast. Plastic tables and stools spill across the road, smoke and the smell of grilling satay and seafood fill the air, and dozens of stalls and shophouse restaurants serve Chinese-Malaysian classics: char kway teow, grilled chicken wings, hokkien mee, satay, durian, and ice-cold fresh juices. Vendors call out, neon glows, and the whole street hums with eaters from across the city and the world.
It's touristy and lively rather than a hidden secret, but the food is genuinely good and the atmosphere is the point. Come hungry in the evening, graze across several stalls, and don't miss the grilled chicken wings that several places are famous for.
