Nagoya Festival

The Nagoya Festival is a vibrant annual celebration held in early autumn (usually October) in Nagoya, Japan. The festival's main events take place in Hisaya Odori Park and along the city's central boulevards in the Naka district. It is one of the city's most anticipated cultural events, drawing both locals and tourists. The highlight is a grand parade featuring elaborately decorated floats (dashi), performers in traditional samurai and court attire, and musicians playing taiko drums and flutes. The parade reenacts historical scenes from the Edo period, including the procession of the Owari Tokugawa clan, who ruled the region. Alongside the parade, there are street stalls selling festival foods like takoyaki, yakisoba, and taiyaki, as well as games and craft booths. Evening events include lantern displays and stage performances. The festival offers a lively, family-friendly atmosphere and a chance to experience Nagoya's rich cultural heritage. Hisaya Odori Park, a long green space in the city center, becomes a hub of activity with multiple stages and food vendors. The festival is free to attend, though some reserved seating for the parade may require tickets.
