Neelkantheshwar

Neelkantheshwar is a Hindu temple located in the Agarkar Nagar area of Pune, Maharashtra. Dedicated to Lord Shiva (Neelkantheshwar refers to Shiva's blue throat from consuming poison), the temple is a serene oasis amidst the bustling city. The architecture features traditional Maratha-style elements with a towering shikhara (spire) and ornate carvings depicting scenes from Hindu mythology. Inside, the main sanctum houses a Shiva lingam, and the walls are adorned with murals of various deities. The temple is particularly vibrant during the month of Shravan (July-August) when devotees offer water and bel leaves. Visitors can participate in the daily aarti ceremonies, which create a meditative atmosphere. The surrounding garden and seating areas provide a quiet spot for reflection.
