Nehru Bridge is one of Ahmedabad's most iconic landmarks, connecting the old city with the newer western suburbs across the Sabarmati River. Built in the mid-20th century, the bridge is a vital traffic artery, carrying vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists. For visitors, walking across the bridge provides panoramic views of the river, the Sabarmati Riverfront development, and the city's skyline, including the distant Akshardham Temple. The bridge is particularly photogenic at sunset when the sky reflects on the water. While it's primarily a functional structure, its location near key attractions like the Sabarmati Ashram and the riverfront promenade makes it a convenient point of reference. The bridge is named after Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first prime minister, and is a symbol of the city's post-independence growth. Despite heavy traffic, it remains a popular spot for locals to pause and take in the view.
