Zhanqiao Pier is Qingdao's most recognizable landmark, a long wooden walkway that stretches into the Yellow Sea. Built in 1892 during the Qing Dynasty, it originally served as a military dock. Today, visitors stroll along the pier to admire the panoramic views of the coastline and the city skyline. At the far end stands the Huilan Pavilion, a two-story octagonal structure with traditional Chinese architecture, which has become a symbol of Qingdao. The area is especially lively at sunset when the sky turns golden and the sea glimmers. Nearby, you can explore the beach or the bustling Zhongshan Road shopping street. Despite crowds, the pier's charm remains undiminished, making it a must-visit for first-time travelers.
