The Waugh Drive Bat Colony is one of Houston's most fascinating natural attractions, located under the Waugh Drive Bridge in Buffalo Bayou Park. Each evening at dusk, between 250,000 and 500,000 Mexican free-tailed bats emerge from the bridge's expansion joints to hunt for insects, creating a spectacular swirling cloud against the sunset sky.
