Imam Turki bin Abdullah Grand Mosque

The Imam Turki bin Abdullah Grand Mosque, also known as the Grand Mosque of Riyadh, is a Sunni Friday mosque in the ad-Dirah neighborhood, next to al-Hukm Palace and Deera Square. Built in Modern Najdi style, it seats 17,000 worshippers and covers 16,800 square metres. The exterior and upper interior are brown Arriyadh Limestone, which glows golden at night, while the lower interior is white marble.

Немного истории

The mosque was established around 1830 during the reign of Turki bin Abdullah Al Saud. It was rebuilt in 1992 on the site of an earlier grand mosque and reopened in January 1993.
