Mount Mary Basilica

The Basilica of Our Lady of the Mount, affectionately known as Mount Mary Church, is one of Mumbai's most beloved religious landmarks, a Roman Catholic basilica perched on a hilltop in the leafy suburb of Bandra, overlooking the Arabian Sea. A church has stood on this Bandra hill since the 17th century, founded by Portuguese-era Jesuits, with the venerated statue of Mary at its heart. The present Neo-Gothic basilica was built in the early 20th century, and the annual Bandra Fair grew into one of Mumbai's great religious celebrations.
