Lijing Gate

Lijing Gate is one of the best-preserved ancient gates in Luoyang, standing as a proud symbol of the city's imperial past. Located at the western edge of the Old Town in Laocheng District, the gate features a grand stone archway topped with a traditional Chinese pavilion-style structure. Visitors can climb to the top for panoramic views of the old city's narrow lanes and tiled rooftops, as well as the modern skyline beyond. The gate is particularly atmospheric at dusk when lanterns are lit and the surrounding streets buzz with food stalls and souvenir shops. Inside the gate, there's a small museum detailing the history of Luoyang's city walls. The area around Lijing Gate is a popular starting point for exploring the Old Town's winding alleys, which are filled with local snacks, calligraphy shops, and tea houses.

Lijing Gate was originally built during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644) and rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty. It served as the main western entrance to Luoyang's walled city, which was an important political and cultural center along the Silk Road.
