Abu Qubays is a prominent mountain adjacent to Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, revered in Islamic tradition for several events. It is believed to be the site where the Prophet Muhammad witnessed the splitting of the moon, a miracle mentioned in the Quran. The mountain also holds significance as the place where the Black Stone (Hajar al-Aswad) was kept before being placed in the Kaaba.
