The Plano Inclinado Gonçalves is a funicular railway that has been shuttling passengers between Salvador's Cidade Alta (Upper City) and Cidade Baixa (Lower City) since the late 19th century. This iconic landmark provides a quick and scenic alternative to the Elevador Lacerda, with two cars painted in bright colors climbing a steep 30-degree slope.
